One Week Workshop on Research Methodology

 The Research Methodology Workshop was organized by Department of Economics, Post Graduate and Research Centre, from 28/03/2022 to 02/04/2022 online through Zoom App to facilitate the academic requirements of the post-Graduate students, research scholars and faculty members of various colleges and universities. The one-week workshop on research methodology was conceptualized with the intention of knowledge-building on the fundamentals of research concepts, methodologies and processes in addition to providing in depth information of various tools application with inputs on the essentials of academic writing.  

Objective of the Workshop were to orient the participants about significance of social science research in developing societies and to familiarize them on philosophical and theoretical dimensions of social science in general and research in particular.

The first day of the programme started with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran by Nazneen Shaikh, FYBA Student. Honourable Vice Principal (Science), Dr. Iqbal Shaikh gave the Welcome & Presidential Address. Dr. Shahid Jamal Ansari Head of Department of Economics presented the Themes of the Workshop. Guest of Honour CMA (Dr.) Kinnarry Thakkar addressed the participants and focused her session on Research in Commerce.

Prof. (Dr.) Qazi Mazhar Ali was the Chief Guest of the Workshop.

Resource Person of the second day of Workshop on Research Methodology was Dr Absar Ahamd, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Manipal Tata Medical College (Affiliated to MAHE), Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India.

The third day of Workshop was conducted by Dr. Vinay Kumar, Associate Professor & Program Manager RISE, Pune He has explained the types of data along with choosing the right statistical test with appropriate examples. 

The fourth and fifth day of the Workshop on Research Methodology was planned on Time Series Analysis & Regression Analysis.  Dr. Tariq Masood, currently working as an assistant Professor (Economics) in the Department of West Asian and North African Studies, Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh was the Resource Person. 

The first session of sixth day of the Workshop on Research Methodology was conducted by Dr. Aas Mohammad, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi.  

The second session of sixth day of the Workshop on Research Methodology was conducted by Dr. Bhavna Deshpande, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, Poona College of Arts, Science & Commerce.  

 There were more than 90 participants from all over the country and abroad. Dr. Ana Mateen was the coordinator of the programme.

National Seminar on “Inflation in Emerging Economies: Issues and Measures”

  Anjuman Khairul Islam’s, Poona College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Department of Economics has organized one-day National Seminar on, “Inflation in Emerging Economies: Issues and Measures”, on 6 th July 2022.   Principal, prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kamat, Mallikarjun College, Goa, was the Chief Guest and Delivered the Keynote Address. Prof. Vilas Adhav, Head, Dept. of Economics, SPPU, Pune, was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Kamat delivered his speech on various aspects of inflation facing emerging economies. He said inflation rate that emerging economies facing is somewhat similar to the situation we faced during 1965. Because of the higher inflation rate supply shocks experienced by the developing economies which caused the lower GDP, higher unemployment and deflation situation.
